Covid-19: India records lowest fatalities in eight months

For the second time this month, daily coronavirus infections dropped below 14,000, bringing India’s Covid-19 case load to 1,05,71,773, while 145 new fatalities were reported, the lowest in around eight months, according to data updated on Monday by the Union Health Ministry.

In one day, a total of 13,788 infections were reported. With 145 new deaths a day, the country’s death toll rose to 1,52,419, the data updated at 8 am showed. Recoveries have surpassed 1.02 crore. On January 12, the regular infections with Covid-19 were 12,548.


The number of people recovering from the disease rose to 1,02,11,342, pushing the national recovery rate of Covid-19 to 96.59 percent, while the case fatality rate of Covid-19 stands at 1.44 percent. The active caseload for Covid-19 remained lower than 3 lakh. According to data, there are 2,08,012 active cases of coronavirus infection in the world, which accounts for 1.97 percent of the total case load.
