Robots Surgical
Within robotic surgical systems, major producers are growing their R&D activities. Intuitive Surgical currently dominates the overall business, but the world is changing rapidly. The entry into the market of medtech surgical robotics through major manufacturers such as Johnson & Johnson and Medtronicare. Each company has unique product lines focused on individual clinical areas for minimally invasive robotic surgery.

Robots can facilitate rehabilitation and help with surgery. For example, the Hybrid Assistive Limb (HAL) exoskeleton of Cyberdyne, which uses sensors mounted on the skin to detect tiny electrical signals in the body of the patient and respond to joint motion, is designed to help patients recover from conditions leading to lower limb disabilities, including spinal cord injuries and strokes.

Care robots
Currently, the number of robots used to provide care and support to elderly and disabled patients is very low, but it is expected to increase dramatically over the next decade, especially in countries such as Japan that are facing a projected shortage in the number of caregivers available. Initial use cases are relatively easy for these items, such as helping individuals get into and out of bed, but they will be increasingly called upon to perform more complex tasks.

Using an integrated map and an array of on-board sensors, TUG will navigate. It also uses Wi-Fi to connect with lifts, automatic doors, and fire alarms.
