The classification system developed by Magrabi and colleagues describes the problems associated with the use of health information technology (health IT) systems.It was developed by examining the’ natural categories’ of issues described in incidents from a range of health care settings in Australia, the United States, and England.
The classification system is grouped into four dimensions covering the spectrum of clinical information system (CIS) related problems including:
- Availability and infrastructure
- Using CIS
- CIS issues
- Transitions and need for vigilance.
