Why are healthcare professionals at work wear uniforms?

Is there any valid reason behind it ?

@Anthral It’s important to be able to identify a worker. Patients and significant others. It makes to feel some reassurance when the patient is attended to by a “professional” health care practitioner.

Scrubs help nurses identify contaminants and bodily fluids, are inexpensive to replace, get cleaned using harsh chemicals and heat (often making them cleaner than regular clothing), protect personal clothing from being ruined and help identify nurses in the work place.

Medical uniforms offer a clear boundary between work wear and out of work wear, drawing a line between ‘everyday’ and ‘medical’ environments. When a uniform is put on, it signifies to everyone that hygiene and prevention are front of mind. This will offer reassurance to other professionals and patients alike.
